Mysticism is the idea that we can actually experience something of the divine. God is real and tangible. He is more than a good idea, more than a moral code, more than some far distant angry being sitting on a throne throwing lightening bolts at people who don’t behave themselves! God is near and His presence, power, life, peace and joy can be experienced here on Earth.
Mystics are people who have lived a life of experiencing God. They are people who are aware of the presence of God in their life and as a result had numerous ecstatic experiences. Whilst we should not agree with all their theology, we can learn from their encounters and be encouraged that God is fun and wants us to enjoy Him!
Mystical Union is the idea that we are united with Christ and can experience this reality. There are tons of Scriptures that tell us that we are now a New Creature and One with Christ. For example: We are united with Christ in his death and resurrection. The same Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead now lives in us. It is no longer I that lives but Christ that lives in me. We are now the body of Jesus on Planet Earth! This means we will feel and sense and experience the Creator of The Universe now living inside of us! Not only that but as Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these.”
Mystic Glory is the idea that since we are united in Jesus, we will experience ecstatic experiences. Overwhelming Love, Visions, Dreams, Trances, Ecstatic Joy, Prophetic Revelation, Angels, Healing, Signs and Wonders, and so forth are all fruit of the presence of God and point us back to Daddy God who loves us.
Intimacy. All of this is simply about intimacy with God. God loves us and calls us His bride. He treats us as Sons and Daughters. He longs for us to walk like Adam and Eve did in The Garden of Eden – which actually means the Garden of Pleasure! We are designed to walk with God in pleasure! This is what I mean by Mysticism! It is all about loving God, being loved by God, and enjoying Him as He enjoys us! Intimacy and Pleasure with God.
